Home Sweet Home... Mandy is no longer on pain medication and fighting the infection as an out patient -- woohoo! Her counts are back to normal. We had a nice morning seeing all her doctors and nurses say Good Bye if only for another week. Thank you MCH nurses for cheering her up so much this weekend, she needed it. We also bumped into our friends Bella and Shannah -- going for their chemo run this week. Please keep Bella in your prayers, she looks and feels great. Thank you all for your prayers, we go back this week for check ups and next week for her second round of chemos. Let's keep praying for that miracle and healing. Scans are around the corner and what we are hoping to see is that the shadows disappear. May GOD help us in unlocking doors to Mandy's future treatments. Prayers for strength and discernment. God Bless You!

Super Bowl Sunday was great, as long as the family is around!!!! Amazing news, Mandy's counts basically tripled over night and she has been fighting the infection along with the antibiotics. She is feeling much better and has not relied on pain medication for the entire day. Doctors thinks she will continue to progress and there may be no immediate need for an ear tube -- Yipee. Mandy had a great time playing with the nurses and finally ate some dinner. I feel really humbled that our friends from church, paid us visit and gave Mandy a special blessing with the Lord and gave me Eucharist. I will always keep this in my heart. So very grateful! We spent time with Grandma Myrna, Tia Lisete, Tio Juan and of course Johnny a.k.a Jonathan. Daddy and Julian came by and we watched the SuperBowl. Of course most of us are rooting for the GIANTS but Mandy only has eyes for her PATRIOTS. We may go home tomorrow, so please keep the prayers going! Please keep in your intention baby Maleya -- May GOD comfort her every minute of this journey and bring peace and grace to her parents. God Bless You All on this Sunday Evening! Go GIANTS!!!!!!

Today is a better day... I am happy to report that the ENT Doctor, thinks she is fighting the infection. She is improving slowly both counts and her ear infection. For now the procedure to place a tube in her ear is not an immediate need. We can now breathe a little sigh of relief :) She needs to be monitored at the hospital for the pain, which may have already subsided, but we will see how the afternoon and evening progress. With all the pain she has from time to time, she is always wanting to know how her brother is doing?!? Amazing GRACE. Thank you for the continued prayers over Mandy. This journey is full of ups and downs, but certain that in GOD all things are possible. God Bless You and I will post another update tomorrow.

Long evening and day... We are back in the hospital, this time for a minimum of three days. The first time ever she has been admitted for neutropenia along with a very bad ear infection. It seems she is taking good meds, but because her counts are low she can not seem to fight the infection. Her ear pain is terrible so she is getting doses of morphine and tylenol to control them. She is definitely not herself and we are saddened to see her this way. Just this late afternoon she got to do a manicure for her mom, a nurse and her aunt, which was so nice to see a glimpse of her enjoying this portion of her day. We keep praying that the meds will do their job. Her counts are going up very slowly, so we are hoping to see the numbers double up tomorrow. So thankful for my mom's prayers over the phone -- instantly revived a very tired and sad spirit just at the right moment. Grateful for my aunts and cousins, thanks for feeding me today and keeping us company. Tomorrow is another day, a brighter one I hope. Getting some rest with Julian this evening, while Dad is sleeping with one eye open at the hospital. Please keep in your intentions Daniela as she is also neutropenic today and was admitted. God Bless all the prayer warriors and all the tiny warriors battling cancer as I write this! Good night and remember GOD is always watching ;)

A Weekend of Indoor Activities... Mandy finished her first week of chemo this past Saturday evening. She even managed to make it to school the first part of this week. Our days were very long (about seven to eight hours each day in addition to her full day at school). Thankfully we managed to make these five days of treatment as infusion visits, so we did not have to stay overnight. I can’t tell you how important it is for all of us to sleep in our own beds. There should really be a campaign to make hospital rooms more comforting and visually appealing for the patient and their families -- Donna Karan and Pottery Barn Kids/teens please help ;) During her chemo days, Mandy picked up an ear infection somewhere between school and the hospital. She was given antibiotics via IV for three days. Just yesterday she began feeling ill again. So we went today for blood work and counts. She is officially neutropenic -- very low counts and can’t really fight an infection. The primary reason for the antibiotics not really working this past weekend. So we are laying low this weekend. I will have to dress up as a clown and entertain the twins so they don't get cabin fever :) I know lots of our friends and family have asked to pay us a visit, but please understand we are off limits this weekend. Show us your love through your prayers. Mandy will not be able to attend school or have visitors until her next blood work up on Tuesday morning. Please continue to pray, we do believe Miracles happen, we just saw a miracle three years in the making. Her name is Annie, now on remission. When nothing seemed to work, you opened a door for this family. Thank you God! Some of you have asked me about Daniela, sorry for not reporting back. But Daniela Hoyos has almost completed her protocol and her cancer is GONE -- keep praying, she certainly continues to put up a fight. Continue to keep Avery and Bella in your prayers every night as our journeys continue to be a bit longer, but only GOD knows why. Thank you for all the encouraging words on the Well Wishes page and your testimonies of God's miracles on earth. We really enjoy reading them and most of all it keeps us going when we are most tired. Help us keep our arms raised to GOD in prayer ;) We Love You and God Bless You!!!
